Collection: Bad student

Mauvaizélève (Bad Pupil) is a photographic series begun in 2021, structured as an initiatory journey through the margins of society. This contemporary art project, developed by photographer and visual artist Florian Sanna aka AbuzOne, follows a silent and introspective character who seeks to understand who he is, far from society's dictates, narrow norms, and hastily applied labels. This series tells less of a fall than a recovery, a reclamation of self against the "corner" system.

To embody this narrative of marginality and insubordination, AbuzOne meticulously crafts full-scale sets from recycled cardboard, sculpts accessories, and produces fake archival documents—propaganda newspapers from the Picket Party, regulatory charters. Photography acts as the final step, sealing the staging and granting it the status of historical proof. No element is generated by artificial intelligence: every square millimeter of the artwork arises from a real volume, cut-out, or collage.

Each image acts as a fragment of this journey: a stop in a mental or symbolic world, a pause in the face of a society that pushes one to blend in. The Mauvaizélève character embodies this tension between shadow and light, between conformity and self-affirmation. His gestures, his silences, his gaze become acts of gentle resistance and transformation.

The series was awarded a Bronze at TIFA 2025 (professional category) and was nominated for the Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA 2025 and 2026), as well as receiving honorable mentions at the APA 2023, 2024, and 2025 and the ND Magazine Awards 2025.

Fine art prints from the Mauvaizélève series are available in limited editions in three formats: 40×60 cm (10 copies + 3 AP, starting from €800), 60×90 cm (7 copies + 3 AP, starting from €1,600), and 70×100 cm (3 copies + 2 AP, upon request). Each print is made on Hahnemühle Baryta 315g or Photo Rag Metallic 340g paper, signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
